Types of buses in Cambodia
Road transportation in Cambodia is carried out by three types of vehicles: seated buses, sleeper buses and minivans. Most local transport providers operate modern fleets of vehicles equipped with air-conditioning, seats or berths, and on-board amenities. Depending on the travel distance and the level of comfort your prefer, you can choose among bus, minibus or minivan available for your route.

Seated buses
Seated buses generally cover long distances during daytime and connect two or more cities in different provinces.
The most common models of seating buses in Cambodia are single-deck coaches equipped with reclining seats and capacity for 30 to 40 passengers

Most seated buses have air-conditioning and the staff on-board provides water and refreshing towels.

Sleeper buses
Sleeper buses generally cover long distances overnight and connect two or more cities in different provinces. Journeys can take up to 6 hours, so buses are prepared for passengers to sleep during most part of the journey.
The most common models of sleeper buses in Cambodia are double-deck coaches equipped with shared berths and capacity for 30 to 40 passengers.

Most sleeper buses have air-conditioning and the staff on-board provides water, refreshing towels and sometimes blankets. Some modern buses are equipped with Wi-Fi internet.

Minivans
Minivans generally cover short distances during daytime and connect cities in the same province or neighbor provinces.
The most common model of the minivan in Cambodia is the Toyota Hiace and the Ford Transit, having the interior refurbished with three rows of seats accommodating 10 passengers. Additionally, there is space for 1 extra passenger in the front of the van, seating next to the driver.

Most minivan vehicles are equipped with air conditioning and seatbelts to ensure a comfortable and safe trip.

Getting around Cambodia by bus
Cambodia continues upgrading the highway network according to international standards.
The internal highway network comprises three major roads: the National Highway 3 linking Phnom Penh and Kampot in the South, the National Highway 4 linking Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville in the Coast, and the National Highway 6/6A linking Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
Other three major roads connect the capital with the neighbour countries: the National Highway 1 connecting Phnom Penh with Bavet in the border with Vietnam, the National Highway 5 connecting Phnom Penh and Battambang to Poipet in the border with Thailand, and the National Highway 7 connecting Phnom Penh and Stung Treng to Dom Kralor in the border with Laos.
Northwestern Cambodia
Northwestern Cambodia comprises the provinces of Siem Reap, Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, Pailin and Kampong Speu.
