Ticket booking is available 30-60-90 days in advance, depending on the transport provider.

Keep in mind that some train providers will open first the fares for long journeys, whereas the fares for short journeys are blocked and will open later, usually few weeks or few days before departure, depending on the occupancy rate and with no exact schedule.

FARE NOT YET OPEN

During the time that the sale period is not yet open or it is open but a particular fare is still locked, we will display the fare as "Not yet open".

In this case, we suggest that you check our site regularly and wait for the fare to open or else choose a different fare or a different route, if available. Should you wish to be notified by email when the fare is available for booking, you can subscribe to our automatic Fare Alert service.

If you have a tight schedule and need to travel on a specific train you may consider booking the end-to-end or half-way journey, which usually has all the fares available, in order to secure your tickets as soon as possible. Once you collect the tickets, you can board or get off the train in any station of the railway line. When booking with us, this option does not incur a higher cost of the service fee.

FARE SOLD OUT

During the time that the sale period is open, if all the tickets for a particular fare have been sold already we will display it as "Sold out".

In this case, we suggest that you choose a different fare or a different route, if available.

Ticket booking is available until 24 hours before departure up to 2 hours, depending on the transport provider.

ONLINE BOOKING HAS ENDED

Once the transport provider has ended the online sale period, we will display the fare as "Not available".

In those cases in which the transport provider still maintains the offline sale open until the time of departure, we will continue displaying the route information in case you have time to head to the departure point and purchase the ticket in person at the ticket office.

After you submit your order we will be able to process your booking within 24 hours or, in case of urgent bookings, in few minutes.

Baolau is a free information service and you don't need to register to search transport routes and plan your trip. We only collect a service fee when we process your reservation and book the tickets with the transport provider.

Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode is a Visa / MasterCard program designed to provide merchants the security of having issuing banks authenticate individual cardholders and approve the payment transactions for fraud protection or chargeback.

If your issuing bank has enrolled your card with the 3D-Secure Program, either Verified by Visa (for Visa cards) or MasterCard SecureCode (for MasterCard cards), you need to enter a code to authorize the payment. Some banks require the customer to set a fixed code and some others send a random code via sms or via app to the customer’s phone number for verification during the payment transaction.

If our payment gateway displays the error "Cannot authenticate by 3D-Secure Program", you should confirm with your bank that your card is activated for online shopping and is enrolled in Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode.

The electronic ticket is valid to collect the boarding pass at the check-in counter in the airport. It cannot be used to board the plane.

Passengers must print a physical copy in advance or carry a digital copy in the mobile phone or tablet to present it during check-in.

The electronic ticket designated as QR-Ticket is a valid boarding pass and can be used to board the train at the station of departure.

The electronic ticket with QR Pickup code can be used to pick up the physical ticket at the station before departure.

Passengers travelling with Japan Railways (JR) can print the e-ticket in advance or carry a digital copy in the mobile phone to scan the QR code at the ticket gates or the ticket vending machines.

The exchange order is valid to collect the rail pass at the station. It cannot be used to board the train.

After arriving in Japan, passengers can collect the rail pass by scanning the passport and the QR code included in the exchange order (E-TICKET) at the ticket vending machines or presenting the passport and the mail exchange order (MCO) received by post mail at the ticket office in the exchange locations, depending on the type of rail pass.

Once exchanged, the rail pass will be associated with the passport and the holder will be able to travel for a number of consecutive days according to the validity indicated in the physical ticket.

Passengers can travel on Shinkansen trains, Limited Express trains, as well as Express, Rapid or Local trains in Non-reserved Seat.

If you wish to travel in Reserved Seat, you must receive your tickets for Reserved seat from the ticket vending machine before boarding.

The electronic ticket received by email is only a booking confirmation, it is not a valid boarding pass and it cannot be used to board the train.

China Railway integrates a ticketless passenger transportation system. Passengers travelling with China Railway are required to use their passport in lieu of the ticket and scan it at the ticket gates to check-in.

The electronic ticket is a valid boarding pass and can be used to board the train at the station of departure.

Passengers travelling with Vietnam Railways can print the e-ticket in advance or carry a digital copy in the mobile phone and present it when boarding the train.
