JR East operates the Hokuriku Shinkansen high-speed train between Tokyo and Tsuruga stopping in Kanazawa.

There are four types of services on the Hokuriku Shinkansen: Kagayaki is the fast service stopping only at key stations, Hakutaka and Asama are the two semi-fast services stopping at the major stations, and Tsurugi is the local service.
