Getting around Malaysia by bus

The road network in Malaysia consists of 250,000 km, of which 2,000 km are expressways. Most highways consist of two-lane, four-lane and even six-lane roads in good condition that guarantee a safe driving.

The main highway is the North–South Expressway (Lebuhraya Utara–Selatan), which extends over 772 km from the border with Thailand to the border with Singapore. The Northern route section starts at Changlun and crosses the states of Kedah, Penang, Perak and Selangor, then meets the Southern route section at Petaling and continues through the states of Negeri Sembilan, Malacca and Johor all the way to Johor Bahru.

Connecting the East Coast and the West Coast, we find the East–West Highway (Lebuhraya Timur–Barat) crossing the states of Kedah, Perak and Kelantan in the northern region and the Kuala Lumpur–Karak Expressway (Lebuhraya Kuala Lumpur–Karak) crossing the states of Selangor and Pahang in the central region.

The East-Coast Highway (Lebuhraya Pantai Timur) runs parallel to the northeastern coast of Peninsular Malaysia across the states of Terengganu and Pahang.
